Japhet Tanganga remained AC Milan’s main defensive target after reaching an agreement in principle to sign the Tottenham man, according to Corriere dello Sport (30/07/22 via Sport Witness).

Milan have identified Tanganga as a suitable option to strengthen their squad, but are continuing to work out the structure of a deal after holding a meeting with Spurs chief executive Fabio Paratici.

The report notes that the Rossoneri want to sign an initial loan with an option to buy for the 23-year-old, while Spurs insist on including an obligation clause instead.

Meanwhile, according to CalcioMercato, AC Milan have reached an agreement in principle to sign Japhet Tanganga on loan from Tottenham, but the two clubs are still working out the figures involved in the deal.

It is claimed that Milan have agreed an initial loan deal for Tanganga, who is their main defensive transfer target, with an option to make the move permanent down the line.

However, the report adds that they are yet to shake hands with Spurs over the value of the clause for the England youth international.

Journalist Daniele Longo recently reported that Tanganga is keen to move to San Siro and is looking to bide its time while waiting for a deal to be reached.

The proposed change for Italy comes after enduring another difficult season at Spurs where he again failed to work his way into the starting fold.

Tanganga’s last two campaigns have been plagued with injury problems, with his most recent problem coming in the form of a knee injury which kept him out of action for the second half of the season.

He returned to full fitness over the summer and played regularly for Antonio Conte during his pre-season preparations.

Boosts web opinion

This deal looks like the one that could drag on a bit as Spurs and Milan want slightly different structures overall. Eventually, one side will have to give in if they want to get what they want, but hopefully there will be some sort of deal that benefits both.
