CLAREMONT, NH & CHANTILLY, Virginia – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – The Red River Charitable Foundation (RRCF), a 501 (c) 3 organization supporting veterans and students, today announced the recipients of its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) scholarships. Now in his 14e Yearly, the RRCF scholarship program has awarded nearly 70 scholarships and supports recent high school graduates from the North East region pursuing fields of STEM study.
“It is a privilege to support these exceptional students, to find out what makes them tick and to learn more about the goals and vision they have for their future,” said Dan McGee, COO of Red River. “The field of STEM grows larger every day and we are honored to help these students start their journey towards rewarding and stimulating careers.”
This year’s scholarship recipients included eight students from schools in the region:
Jackson balch, from Hartford High School, attending University of Minnesota: Twin Cities
Jacob Cardillo, from Kearsarge Regional High School, attending Brown University
Adam LaPanne, from Sanborn Regional High School, attending the University of New Hampshire
Sneha Magadi, from Lebanon High School, attending the University of Connecticut
Evan parker, from Londonderry High School, attending Roger Williams University
Roseau Parker, from Sunapee High School, attending the University of New Hampshire
Robb Hunter, from Lebanon High School, attending Endicott College
Owen Taylor, from Stevens High School, attending Southern New Hampshire University
Each winner received a $ 5,000 scholarship for their tuition and books, as well as Dell laptops, keyboards and printers. The winners were announced at each high school’s senior night.
To be considered for this scholarship, students must demonstrate good character and must submit an essay on a given topic regarding technology. The RRCF assesses each application based on the creativity and overall quality of the essay, the extent of the student’s financial need, their participation in extracurricular activities including community service and whether their grades demonstrate the behaviors of a conscientious student. Students are encouraged to pursue internships and full-time careers at Red River throughout their college education.
