Ahead of this year’s Eid al-Kabir celebration, the Osun State government began distributing food aid to vulnerable citizens across the state.
The state government has started feeding 30,000 poor and vulnerable citizens across the state since March 2021.
Speaking as the cast closed on Friday, State Government Secretary Prince Wole Oyebamiji reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyetola-led government to delivering people-centered programs. He added that the people of the state were at the heart of the administration’s social interventions.
âFor more than three months now, the Osun State government has been providing food to vulnerable people in the state. It is this government’s conviction that it is not enough to pay salaries and build roads. The masses should also be considered for some direct government benefit. What we are doing is so that the common man can get a feel for the government he has elected to power.
âThis government is focused on its commitments, and this particular distribution is strategic. It is the intention of the government that the cast crosses the Ileya festival so that there is a celebration in different social strata, âOyebamiji said.
Also speaking during the report, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Tasks and Chairman of the Osun Food Support Program, The Hon. Olalekan Badmus, said the government had planned a 5 kg bag of rice for 30,000 vulnerable citizens in accordance with previously defined parameters.
