King Meets with Economists, Says National Workshops Should Lead to Comprehensive Economic Roadmap | Jordan News

Ammon News – His Majesty King Abdullah reiterated on Sunday that improving economic prospects and developing projects and ideas that accelerate growth and create jobs are priorities for the coming period.

In a telepresence meeting with a number of business figures, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah said the desired outcome of the upcoming national workshops is a comprehensive roadmap for the economy for years to come.

Her Majesty noted that the roadmap should set out the way forward to ensure sustainable overall development, provide economic opportunities and improve the quality of services, along with avenues for political and administrative reforms.

The King also underlined the importance of the participation of all segments of society and economic sectors, in order to broaden dialogue and participation.

His Majesty called for capitalizing on the great potential and advantages that Jordan offers, particularly in the areas of mining, energy, renewable energy, information technology, tourism, health, agriculture and creative industries, emphasizing the need to build on previous achievements.

For their part, the participants presented a number of ideas and suggestions that could improve Jordan’s economic performance, calling for the rapid implementation of short-term reforms, alongside the development of a medium- and long-term roadmap to strengthen economic growth and attract domestic and foreign investment. .

Participants also highlighted promising sectors that could attract investment to improve Jordan’s competitiveness, including technology and advanced industry, highlighting the opportunities that regional integration could provide.

They welcomed the decision to reduce electricity costs in productive sectors, calling for new measures to support the national economy and exports.

Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of legislative stability to attract investment, highlighting the role of megaprojects in accelerating economic growth.
