Italian squad agree tentative deal for Chelsea star

Chelsea starlet Ethan Ampadu is closing in on leaving the club as Serie A side Spezia have agreed in principle with the Blues on a move for him.

Ampadu’s future at Stamford Bridge is under scrutiny as he is yet to make an appearance under Thomas Tuchel this season.

The Blues are on the hunt for new centre-backs and are working hard to secure a deal on the line for Leicester City man Wesley Fofana but have so far delayed a decision on Ampadu’s future , with the Frenchman’s situation remaining unresolved.

Ampadu has attracted interest from many clubs in Italy, where he played on loan for Venezia last season.

Serie A sides Empoli, Sassuolo and Spezia are all keen to land the Welshman in the current window.

And according to the Italian daily The Secolo XIXSpezia are set to win the race for the Chelsea man’s services as they reached an agreement with the Londoners on a transfer for him on Monday, albeit in an unofficial capacity.

Ampadu is now closing in on a return to Italy where he is expected to play his trade this season.

The 21-year-old has played for Premier League 2 development side Chelsea this season but is now likely to earn senior minutes in Italy.
