Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has expressed his administration’s concern about training the next generation of leaders in the state.
He described this concern as the motivation behind hosting the Osun State Government’s 2021 Independence Day Essay Contest.
Represented by his deputy, Gboyega Alabi, Governor Oyetola at the grand finale of the essay competition, held by the state government to commemorate the country’s 61st independence anniversary in Osogbo, said the competition was aimed at instruct students not only to be imaginative as active producers of relevant nation-building ideas, but also to courageously ventilate such ideas unabashedly into the public space.
In the competition, Miss Adegboyega Abisola Faith from Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo, became the winner of the secondary school category, while Master Adeyemo Victor Ayodeji, a medical student at Bowen University and native of the local government of Odo-Otin won the tertiary institution category. .
It should be recalled that the Osun State government announced that interested students from secondary schools and higher education institutions should submit essays on the chosen subjects.
In his welcome speech, State Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Tasks, Lekan Badmus, thanked State Governor Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola for endorsing the Osun 2021 Essay Competition among the students from secondary and tertiary institutions as part of activities planned to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence Day.
