BOJ chief vows to maintain easing and monitor impact of global tightening

The Bank of Japan will maintain an ultra-low rate policy amid heightened uncertainty in the global economy caused by policy tightening in other economies, while closely monitoring the impact of rate hikes on markets overseas financial institutions, Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Monday.

In a speech to business leaders in the central city of Nagoya, Kuroda stuck to the view that a recent pickup in inflation, driven mainly by rising commodity prices and a weaker yen , will not hold, even though the nation has seen a broadening of corporate price hikes.
